Tour of Estonia to be more competitive than last year

Tour of Estonia 2018 will be held from 25th to 26th of May. UCI 2.1 category road race will bring over 100 cyclists from at least 16 teams to the start line.

16 teams (though not final number, yet) is five more than last year. „The more teams in Tour of Estonia, the higher the overall level is and the more competitive the race will be,“ said Race Director Indrek Kelk. From the registered teams the stronger ones should be pro-continental team Novo Nordisk and continental teams Hurom and Riwal. In total 1 pro-continental team, 9 continental teams and 6 national teams have signed up for the Tour of Estonia 2018.

Traditionally the Tour of Estonia starts with the Tallinn-Tartu GP, which this year is 194 km and with only 800 metres of gravel (last year there was a tricky 5 km gravel section in the first stage).

The second and final stage will be in the city centre of Tartu, on Saturday, 26th of May. The stage runs on a fast tempo 9,6 km loop (same as last year) with two steep but fast and powerful climbs, both will be taken 18 times. Total length of the second stage is 173 km.

On Sunday, 28th of May the biggest cycling festival in Eastern-Europe called the 37th Tartu Road Race (or Tartu Rattaralli) will take place in Tartu. The Tartu Road Race is not part of the Tour of Estonia but is a separate 135/56 km race with close to 4000 participants. Many pro cyclists from the Tour of Estonia will also take part in Tartu Road Race
