The prologue of the Tour of Estonia was won by Estonian national team rider Romet Pajur (1.04.869), who won Sylvester Vittinghus Stokbrod (Airtox - Carl Ras; +1.680) and Marceli Boguslawski (ATT Investments; +1.728).
Romet Pajur's 1km time was 1:04.869. The course record for the same distance dates back to 1987 and is in the name of Aleksandr Kiritsenko, who rode 1km at the Pirita Velodrome with 1:05.886. This can be considered an unofficial course record precisely because the Pirita Velodrome no longer hosts races and Pajur also competed on a road bike, not a special track bike.
Pajur is satisfied with the first stage, but he is chasing the overall victory of the tour. “Last year I was also chasing victory, I was eighth overall. The first stage went well, but I have to stay on the ground, it was just a prologue. Tomorrow is a new day and a new race,” explains Pajur.
Romet Pajur pedals every day for the Red Bull–BORA-Hansgrohe Rookies team. Speaking about his recent achievements, Pajur states that he can’t complain about the season in general, but if you look at the results list, it’s not as good as he would like. “I can see the progress and I can be happy with myself, but I’ll wait for the victories,” he explains.
Romet Pajur is also the best young rider after today’s prologue.
